It was a glimpse behind the curtains of heaven as over seven thousands Royal Rangers from twenty-six nations and twenty different language groups gathered in fun, friendship, and worship in Hungary for Eurocamp 2024. What began as an empty field sprung to life as nations from across Europe set up encampments, constructed towers and entryways, laid makeshift roads, erected an outdoor amphitheater, and more to create a temporary town. A small, but mighty, team from the U.S. joined in the construction as RRI led a missions team to help serve fellow Rangers on foreign shores.
The week began on Sunday night with a 30th anniversary celebration for the Hungary Royal Rangers. The host nation pulled out all the stops with a time of worship, a celebration of the past thirty years, and a concert that rocked the hills (and the fillings of us older folks). To top it off, an invitation was given for those who would like to receive Christ to which hundreds responded.
Each day was filled with fun, games, challenges, and new opportunities. Tuesday was Culture Day. Throughout the day, nations hosted sports, games, crafts, and other activities to allow other Royal Rangers to experience some of the unique fun of other cultures. Campers were also encouraged to collect “passport stamps” in their camp books as they visited various nations. Wednesday and Thursday were filled with workshops, seminars, craft opportunities, outdoor activities, a crazy 5K, and other activities Royal Rangers could choose from to fill their day. Friday concluded the week with various challenges and sports competitions where attendees could earn medals and recognition.
As the sun settled on each fun-filled day, the nations gathered with eager anticipation for what God had in store for the nightly services. The theme each night was “You are . . .” as campers were challenged to know who they are in Christ. You are called. You are more. You are restored. You are invited. You are called to. Each night attendees pressed into worship and prayer and responded to be who Christ has called and equipped them to be. In addition to testimonies of salvation, one young lady was restored from depression and cutting as the cuts and scars on her arms were miraculously healed. Another testimony came that in the middle of service as a Royal Ranger was experiencing a panic attack (a condition which had been diagnosed years earlier), the presence of God came over them, stopped the attack, and brought immediate peace. Yet another who was on crutches due to an ankle injury had a fellow Royal Ranger ask if he could pray for him. Immediately the young man was healed and could walk, jump, and run with no pain and no need for the crutches.
In what was one of the most powerful and impactful moments of the camp, the final service on Friday night was closed with a special blessing. Each national director one by one spoke a blessing in their native tongue over the Royal Rangers of their nation and those present. Every nation, tribe, and tongue present called down the blessings of God over this generation as they were sent out as a mighty generation of world changers to their homes and nations. There is no doubt that this Eurocamp marked only the beginning of what God is going to do in and through the Royal Rangers across the European region and beyond.
