During my years teaching at a day care/preschool and teaching elementary Sunday school classes, I found that boys liked to create craft projects just as much as the girls. Below are several craft ideas for your Ranger Kids and Discovery Rangers groups for Father’s Day. Please be sensitive to the boys in class who may not have a dad. Every boy will have a special man in his life.
RANGER KIDS & DISCOVERY RANGERS
I tried to select craft projects that both Ranger Kids and Discovery could complete. Depending on which craft you choose, you may want to recruit a few extra helpers for the night.
Father’s Day Hero Stones
This craft could take a couple of weeks depending on how you choose to complete the craft. The directions on the website below are for one mom helping one or two kids make something for their dad. If you take the craft to the essential supplies, you’ll need larger rocks and paint pens or Sharpies. You can easily change the craft and have each boy complete one or two rocks. If you have time, you can make the rock double sided so that you have two characteristics per rock. You can modify the craft further to keep the original beauty of the natural rock and simply have the boys write on the rocks with paint pen or Sharpies.

Wooden Father’s Day Car
This craft would take a couple of weeks to complete is all the pieces are precut. This is like make a small Ranger Derby car. You’ll need the following supplies: plywood (½” x 5 ½”), four flat wheels, four long nails plus one thin, paint, paintbrushes, construction paper (any color), glue, skewers, white pens, hammers. It would be best to let you read the instructions instead of trying to write them here. You can be guaranteed that every car will be as unique as the boy who made it.

Father’s Toolbox
This is a cute toolbox. On each toolbox is a simple sentence for the boys to complete about their dads. At the website below near the bottom of the page is a free printable template for the tools in the toolbox. What’s nice is you can print them in black and white and have boys color them, or you can print them in color. You will need light weight cardstock, scissors, and a stapler. Glue sticks or tape could also be used in place of the stapler.

Nuts and Bolts Heart Craft
You can make this craft as written, or you can scale it to a more affordable option. The full version uses a 16x20 canvas, nuts, bolts, nails, screws, washers, wooden letters, tacky glue, and spray paint. To make the craft more economical, use a 4x4 canvas or cut poster board in quarters and use washers and nuts that will stick easier. Instead of getting wooden letters, the boys could write, “Daddy,” or “I’m nuts about you,” above or below the heart. You also wouldn’t need to use spray paint.

All About Dad Activity Page
The boys can fill this out and take it home to their dads or other significant in their lives.

Cards
Handprint Grill
You can use construction paper or light weight cardstock in red, orange, black, silver, grey, and white. You’ll also need scissors, glue sticks, and black markers. Use the grill template if you want to photocopy the pieces onto the construction paper or cardstock.

Father’s Day Hero Card
You’ll need construction paper (brown, yellow, red, and green), scissors, markers, and glue sticks. Although the instructions say to trace the patterns pieces onto the construction paper, it will be much easier for the boys if you printed the pieces on the correct color paper and have them cut the pieces out. Once all the pieces are cut out, they just need to assembly the hero sandwich card and write a note on it.
