Boys' Empowerment: A New Trajectory

Boys’ Empowerment: A New Trajectory

I recently had the opportunity to stand in a community where, to the human eye, all you could see was mud. It had been raining, and the lanes between the shacks were slick with clay. The families there were living in the kind of grinding poverty that forces a person to look no further than sunset. When your only goal is “What can I eat today?” there is no room to dream about tomorrow.

But I’m reminded of what one local pastor told me as we looked over that landscape: “Where people see mud, God sees treasure.”

That is the heart of what we are doing this year through Master’s Toolbox.

We aren’t just sending resources; we are partnering with Convoy of Hope and the local church to dig for that treasure in the lives of boys around the world.

More Than a Meal

Through our partnership with BGMC and Girls Ministries, we are tackling the total need of these young people. Alongside BGMC providing the essential food to quiet a hungry stomach, Royal Rangers is stepping up to fund the Boys’ Empowerment Program.

These boys need more than just another handout. For just $25, you can provide the curriculum and resources for one boy to go through this program for an entire year. In eighteen nations and across six regions, these boys are learning:

  • Cognitive & Social Skills: Learning how to study, read, and present themselves with confidence.
  • Physical Health: Basic hygiene and personal care, which we often take for granted, is life-changing in these communities.
  • Economic Empowerment: Learning real-world skills, such as building a chicken coop or raising goats, to create a sustainable future for their families.

A New Trajectory

The difference is stark. When you talk to boys who aren’t in the program, their conversation is trapped in the “now.” However, when you sit with these “empowered” young men, they are dreaming. They want to start businesses. They want to go to school. They want to lead.

We are lifting their vision from the mire of today to the hope of what God has for their future. As they learn self-control and respect, the “ripple effect” changes their families and steers them away from the destructive paths of gangs and violence.

The Challenge: Fun with a Purpose

Now, men, I want to challenge you. We have a friendly competition going with National Girls Ministries. We’ve drawn a line in the sand for April, August, and the end of the year. The ministry that raises the most for their respective empowerment program wins—and the “losers” must wear the other ministry’s apparel or even paint their faces for Sunday service!

I love Girls Ministries, but I’d much rather see them in Royal Rangers gear than have to wear their gear myself!

Take Action

I’m asking every leader and every boy to impact at least one other life this year. That’s just $25. I want our boys to earn it, not just ask a parent or grandparent for the money. I want them to feel the “pinch” of sacrifice, knowing that their hard work is changing a life, a future, and an eternity.

Let’s show these boys across the globe that they are loved, they are valued, and they are God’s treasure.
