I think this is maybe my third or fourth article in a row about something changing within Royal Rangers training. I naturally want to push back on change because I like the familiar and the comfortable. Then, I simply turn my focus to what Isaiah 54:2, NASB says, "Enlarge the place of your tent; Stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, spare not; Lengthen your cords And strengthen your pegs.” Sometimes we just need to stretch the tent pegs within our lives, and this includes our continued pursuit of learning. I believe the educational coursework for the Organization Leader Training (OLT) has remained unchanged since its inception. Some might even say we were due for a change.
In the fall of 2020, the General Presbytery approved course changes for ministerial credentialing. This in turn has caused a shift in some of the educational courses within the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels of the OLT and the addition of one (1) course to the Silver level. Leaders pursuing OLT advancements may be doing this for one of the following reasons:
Track 1: RR Diploma Track OR Credentialing (immediate changes)
If either of these scenarios fits you, then the application you download from our website for the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels are labeled “RR Diploma Track.”
For those pursuing the RR Diploma and/or Credentialing here are the required courses. (Note the changes in courses within the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. Also note the sixth course added to the Silver level—MIN171 A Spirit Empowered Church: An Acts 2 Ministry. The coursework within the Platinum level has not changed.)
Track 2: Non-RR Diploma Track (transition period)
If you are pursuing the OLT via a district School of Ministry or Berean School of the Bible without earning the RR Diploma through Global University, then a transition period has been established. You may continue to pursue the previous course format and will have until December 31, 2021, to complete the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels under the previous format. The applications you download from our website for this track are labeled “Non-RR Diploma Track.”
For those not pursuing the RR Diploma, here are the required courses. (Note: This form and the course format shown herein will only be honored until December 31, 2021. On January 01, 2022, the two paths presented in this article and on the national website will combine back into what we are referring to here as the RR Diploma Track.)
You may have noticed we’ve added headings that indicate which coursework is required per each levels. There have been some misunderstandings that any five (5) courses would suffice for say the Bronze level, but that is incorrect. The courses listed within each level are required for that level. This slight change to the forms should help alleviate a lot of misunderstandings.
In closing, when we were made aware of the coursework changes, we didn’t set out to create two different paths or applications for the OLT because two choices can lead to more confusion. Yet, creating the Non-RR Diploma Track and RR Diploma Track seemed to be the fairest solution to both pursuits.
